Children are naturally curious. Science at Lyneham Primary School aims to nurture this curiosity, providing students with opportunities to ask questions and develop the skills they need to answer those questions. At Lyneham Primary, students explore evidence and investigate ways to discover, develop and produce solutions to real world problems.
There are three interrelated strands of the Science Curriculum; Science understanding, Science as a human endeavour and Science inquiry skills. The Science understanding strand comprises four sub-strands; Biological Science, Chemical Science, Earth and Space Sciences and Physical Science. Science as a Human Endeavour encourages students to gain an understanding of the development of science as a unique way of knowing and doing and the importance of science in decision-making and problem-solving. Science inquiry involves students identifying and posing questions; planning, conducting and reflecting on investigations; processing, analysing and interpreting evidence; and communicating their findings to their teacher and peers.
